ALROSA yesterday released its schedule for international auctions for special size rough diamonds (weighing over 10.8 carats) in 2020. The Company plans to hold 34 such auctions at various locations.

ALROSA has scheduled seven auctions for Q1 2020; eight in Q2; another seven in Q3; and 12 auctions in Q4.

Out of the total, 11 auctions, representing the largest number, will take place in Moscow; while three will be held in Vladivostok. Other sales will take place in important international diamond trading centres, where ALROSA has trading representative offices. These include:  three auctions in Antwerp (Belgium); four in Dubai (UAE); five in Ramat Gan (Israel); four in Hong Kong (China); and four in New York (USA).

“Russian law stipulates that special size rough diamonds (weighing over 10.8 carats) must be auctioned,” said Evgeny Agureev, Deputy CEO of ALROSA. “In general, such auctions attract up to 100 companies from different countries. Auction sales currently account for about 10% of our overall sales volumes.”
