GJEPC Conducts Training Session on Use of e-SANCHIT

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council conducted a training session on December 10,  2019, in Mumbai regarding e-SANCHIT (e-Storage and Computerized Handling Indirect Tax Documents), which is a digital platform and system introduced by the Government of India for export-import documentation in order to reduce physical interface between Customs and clearing agents and to significantly reduce clearance time by uploading digitally signed documents.\r\n\r\nThe purpose of the session was to impart practical training and solutions for uploading documents on e-SANCHIT; and information on how to raise Shipping Bill and Bill of Entry which is mandatory for carrying out export–import.\r\n\r\nExport-Import managers from 12 companies attended the session conducted by Niraj Sinha, consultant.\r\n\r\nSinha gave them a live demo explaining how to upload documents on e-SANCHIT. As he took them step-by-step through the procedure, the training proved to be extremely useful and effective.\r\n\r\nThe training, organised by GJEPC’s Dr. Jitarani Udgadia, helped build confidence among the managers and was one more effort made by the Council to take the sector towards professionalism and transparency.
