The Gem and Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) will be hosting the India Jewellery Excellence Symposium (IJES), a first-of-its-kind technology-cum-excellence conclave, in Mumbai on January 8-9, 2020.

At the event, Indian and international experts will make presentations on manufacturing and business best practices to an exclusive audience comprising owner / promoters and senior professionals from across the gems and jewellery industry. Adapted on the lines of the Santa Fe Symposium®, the IJES debut show will host 22 seminars with top experts.

Sessions focused on technological innovations and operations will be held concurrently with symposiums on HR practices, blockchain, Six Sigma methodology, theory of constraints, etc., the organisers said. GJSCI believes that IJES will provide an impetus to the government’s vision of “Make in India” and “Skill India”.

GJSCI chairman Sanjay Kothari said, “We believe that knowledge is important, and we aim to upskill the manufacturing processes and train our people so that India can eventually start supplying to top global brands. We need to up our game and be globally competitive. Our ultimate goal is to see India flourish.”

He added that the Santa Fe Symposium was closing down after a successful run of 24 years, “and we will take the baton and carry it forward in India. We hope that we can fill the gap of Santa Fe”.

Jitendra Mirwani, founder of NuucleonTech Pvt. Ltd., and one of the directors of the IJES, noted that the event will enable the Indian industry to scale new heights. “India is at the cusp of technological advancement. The new, friendly government policies and the Indian industry’s acceptance to embrace advanced technology and new learnings will make our manufacturers feel empowered and contribute to the growth of the industry.”

The two-day seminar will also allow one-on-one interactions with speakers and technocrats. Each company that registers will be allowed to bring five delegates, who can have the flexibility of attending any of the seminars, depending on their field of interest or expertise.

Post the event, a book will be released with all the collated data from the two-day meet.
