JAS-14: All round growth up 20%-30%
JAS 2014, held from August 22- August 25, organised by the Jewellers association of Jaipur, got off to a brisk start after its inauguration by Rajasthan State BJP President, Ashok Parnami; and MP from Jaipur, Ram CharanBohra. The Vice President Rajasthan State unit of the BJP and MLA Mohan Lal Gupta; Mayor of Jaipur JyotiKhandelwal; DG (S&D) Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Siddharth; GJF Chairman Harish Soni and GJEPC Vice Chairman Pankaj Parekh were the Guests of Honour at the inaugural ceremony.
At the inauguration, Siddharth announced that the Central Government has sanctioned a budget of Rs. 450,000,000 for establishing the proposed Gems Bourse in Jaipur and Rs. 95,000,000 for the development of a hostel for students enrolled for gemstone and jewellery courses in Jaipur.
The Jaipur industry was assured support by dignitaries for the long awaited Gem Bourse in Jaipur. An assurance to start flights between Jaipur and Hong Kong and Bangkok was also given and full support was promised from the governmental machinery for solving other concerns of the industry as well.
JAS- 14 saw an average growth between 20%-30% for all parameters. The show was attended by around 35,000 visitors from various places like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Indore, Surat, Junagarh, Nagpur and Ahmedabad; while numerous NRI and foreign buyers from US, Japan, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Italy, UK, Germany, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Nepal also attended.
The show had on display more than 500 types of gemstones of varied cut, colour, quality and shapes, gemstone-based home décor articles, accessories like buttons, cufflinks etc. A large number of jewellery companies also participated and displayed over 25,000 unique designs in gold, platinum, silver, and in a cross section of styles from the antique and heritage to modern and contemporary.
Allied products like packing and display items, security and safety devices, jewellery literature and trade publications, jewellery technology products, machinery also found a place at the event.
New additions to the show were: a dedicated space for upcoming entrepreneurs and a live demonstration of gemstone manufacturing. Both moves were greatly appreciated.
The All India JAS Jewellery Design Competition was organised in association with JAS-14. The winners of the competition are: In the Cocktail Jewellery category ArushiRawat, PrachiBhandari and Vaishali were declared as 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners; Panchal Viral, DeepikaAgarwal and Nikhil Desai were chosen to be the winners for the Formal Wear Jewellery category while for the Men’s Jewellery category Sunil Karole, Panchal Viral and RitikaGoyal was selected to be the 1st, 2nd and the 3rd winners.

The organisers announced JAS-15 will be held next year from August 21st to August 24th 2015.
