GJEPC Meets Customs Working Group In Delhi To Discuss Jewellery Repair Policy

The Working Group of Customs recently had an interaction with the GJEPC and exporter members to formulate a standard operating procedure (SoP) for jewellery repair. The meeting was held at the office of the Directorate General of Export Promotion (DGEP) in Delhi.

During the interaction, the participants discussed the various aspects of jewellery repair, including the procedure for sending and receiving the goods, the documentation required, and the valuation of the repaired goods. They also discussed the challenges faced by exporters in the process and the possible solutions to overcome them.

The meet was attended by Chief Commissioner of Customs Roopam Kapoor, Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC; Ashok Seth, Regional Chairman - North, GJEPC; Dr. Nawal Agarwal, Convener, Gold Jewellery Panel, GJEPC, and other dignitaries.

The Working Group of Customs plays a crucial role in formulating policies and procedures related to the customs clearance of goods. The interaction with GJEPC and exporter members was an important step towards streamlining the process of jewellery repair and ensuring a smooth and efficient clearance of goods.
