Chow Tai Fook Q2 Sales Rebound On Mainland China Revival

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited reported positive sales growth of 2.6% for the three months that ended 30th September, 2020, as a recovering Mainland China outshone struggling Hong Kong and Macau.

The company said that in light of the easing Covid-19 situation, business in Mainland China showed an encouraging improvement and its same store sales rebounded to a positive growth of 11.0% during Q2.

Challenging macros and the closure of key border crossings weighed on the retail demand in Hong Kong and Macau during Q2, yet same store sales decline in Hong Kong and Macau narrowed to 46.4% and 74.6%, respectively, thanks to a lower base of comparison, it added.

Popular product categories in Mainland China gem-set, platinum, and k-gold jewellery, while gold jewellery recorded a volume decline in both markets as a  result of price volatility.

The group added a net of 261 points of sale in Mainland China during Q2, and as of Q2, had 4,153 points of sale in total.
