Dancing Sun, The Largest N. American Diamond, To Lead Christie’s NY June Sale

Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels sale on 8th June is led by a collection of impressive diamonds, an elegant selection of Graff jewels and an assemblage of signed jewellery by makers including Buccellati, Bulgari, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Harry Winston.

The sale highlights include the Chrysler Diamond, a magnificent 54.04-carat D colour internally flawless diamond with distinguished American provenance, and the Dancing Sun, a 204.36-carat fancy intense yellow diamond, the largest polished diamond ever mined in North America. This exceptional stone, along with six additional diamonds ranging from 14.52 to 1.06 carats, were cut and polished from the largest gem quality rough diamond unearthed in North America. Weighing 552.74 carats, the rough was uncovered in 2018 from the Diavik Diamond Mine, owned and operated by Arctic Canadian Diamond Company Ltd.

Rounding out the sale is property from an important West Coast collection, featuring an impressive collection of JAR jewellery. Spanning almost 20 exquisite creations, the section is led by a pair of natural pearl and diamond earrings ($700,000-1,000,000).
