The GJEPC webinar on \u201cExport Credit And Treasury Products of State Bank of India (SBI)\u201d that was held on 23rd July, 2021, explored and highlighted the strong relationship between India\u2019s biggest bank and India\u2019s leading export sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The speakers included Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Group Chief Economic Adviser, Economic Research Department, SBI; Mr. Asit Ranjan, Deputy General Manager (Treasury Marketing Group), Global Markets, SBI; and Mr. Pratyush Mehrotra, Deputy General Manager (International Banking Group – Domestic) International Banking Group, SBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moderated by Mr. Maulik Shah, Consultant \u2013 Banking, GJEPC, the session focused on topics such as the global and Indian economy, export credit products, diamond and jewellery policy, hedging solutions, FX and Gold risk management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Ghosh noted that the Indian macro and leading indicators were positive and pointing towards growth recovery, and the financial conditions also signal ample liquidity and overall lower rate of interest. He added that the Government fiscal situation is better with surplus generated through higher GST collection and oil tax surplus (estimated to be around Rs.1.5-2 lakh crore).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On a question related to the prospects of the gem and jewellery sector which has been the major beneficiary of Government fiscal support to the citizens in developed nations, and limited avenues for spending, will this continue with the economy opening up? Dr. Ghosh responded that the export market will generally do well but growth will be gradual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another session, Mr. Mehrotra covered topics such as trade finance products & enablers, Pre Shipment, Post Shipment Credit, SBI Exporter Gold Card Scheme, SBI financing policy for diamond & jewellery units, Gold Metal Loan, DDA & PCFC through DDA, and SBI initiatives during Covid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
