I also love his lines and the figures.\u201d The picture Pat had was a black and white one, and that sparked her imagination. \u201cI wondered then what could be translated into gold and into colour. It is so mysterious \u2013 and that is what I liked and decided to explore through my work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pat encapsulates Dubuffet\u2019s artistry by digressing from her signature silhouettes. \u201cI think my signature textures match his paint strokes,\u201d she muses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pat\u2019s textures on gold are purely handmade, as were Dubuffet\u2019s. \u201cThese tactile, organic forms are inspired by my childhood memories: on the beach, going into the caves. She recalls the moment when she first laid eyes on her grandpa\u2019s collection of vintage ceramics. \u201cIt sparked something in me. So, she threw in a gold comb into the creative mix. \u201cA comb is so important in Africa; hair accessory, to them, is very personal,\u201d she explains. These beads with nice curves have slightly sharp edges. \u201cI wanted to pav\u00e9 set the diamonds on this ring. Four claws hold the diamonds in place and are set very tightly. The alternating diamond beads \u2013 flowing along the three rows stack \u2013 resemble an arrow pattern,\u201d adds Pat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lignes d&#8217;Ete collection, though launched digitally worldwide last fall, will be available in stores only from March this year. \u201cWe are planning a party and physical launch at our flagship store in Bangkok, in February,\u201d says the designer.
