Approximately 84% of US adults are expected to celebrate Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cConsumers are eager to find memorable ways to honour their mothers and other important women in their lives and are willing to spend a little extra on this sentimental holiday,\u201d said NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consumers are planning to spend $25 more this year on Mother\u2019s Day purchases and are expected to spend a record average of $245.76.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jewellery purchases and special outings such as dinner or brunch are driving this year\u2019s spending increases, marking a record in the survey\u2019s history for average spending in both categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJewellery remains a timeless gift selection for Mother\u2019s Day and continues to capture an increasing market share,\u201d said Prosper Vice President of Strategy Phil Rist. \u201cForty-one percent of consumers are planning to gift jewellery this year, up from 34% in 2021 and total spending on jewellery is expected to reach $7.0 billion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over one-third (36%) are planning to make their purchases for the holiday online.
