Frozen Kiss, David Morris\u2019 Tribute to Rodin\u2019s iconic work<\/strong><\/p>\n

David Morris\u2019 new fine jewellery collection is a glittering tribute to French sculptor Auguste Rodin\u2019s masterpiece, The Kiss. The six-piece bejewelled version from the British maison is a \u201ccontemporary celebration of love, micro-set diamonds whirl around round diamond centre stones,\u201d with the motif alluding to an eternal embrace.<\/p>\n

The Kiss, first unveiled in 1882, caused a furore, with Rodin\u2019s sensually carved bodies considered radical and provocative, observes the jewellery maison. Today, the sculpture is an international icon, recognised all over the world for its raw and honest portrayal of love.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrozen Kiss captures those moments when you are overwhelmed with love and you just want to bottle that feeling,\u201d says Jeremy Morris, the brand\u2019s CEO and Creative Director. \u201cThese pieces are for modern-day lovers to wear and give as tokens of adoration, appreciation and respect,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

Working exclusively with round brilliant-cut diamonds to honour love, the designers at David Morris have chosen to interpret the languorous yet taut embrace depicted in Rodin\u2019s iconic work by relying on rows of micro-set diamonds, allowing them to spiral around the one carat diamond centre stones.<\/p>\n

In particular, the Frozen Kiss torque necklace and bangle play out the sculptural lines that bend and curve, creating what seems like \u201ca vortex of energy that captures the inexorable pull of love.\u201d The central diamond is snugly held in the ring, studs, drop earrings and pendants.<\/p>\n

Arman Suciyan\u2019s Hyper Baroque Line<\/strong><\/p>\n

Turkish jeweller Arman Suciyan new earrings are part of his Hyper Baroque collection. Handmade at his atelier in Istanbul, the jewels take inspiration from nature, the artist and artisan, jeweller and lacemaker.<\/p>\n

The sculptural approach to the design and craft of Hyper Baroque takes inspiration from the engraved illustrations of German zoologist Ernst Haeckel as well as the seemingly impossible M\u00f6bius strip imagined by German mathematician Frederic M\u00f6bius, shares the designer. \u201cThe book by Haeckel showcases a dazzling array of natural forms, from radiolarians and jellyfish to flowers and other intricate organisms. Each plate blends scientific accuracy with artistic beauty, revealing the symmetry, complexity, and diversity of life. Haeckel\u2019s work profoundly influenced both science and art, inspiring movements like Art Nouveau with its organic, decorative motifs. When\u00a0I first\u00a0came across the\u00a0book,\u00a0during\u00a0my\u00a0years\u00a0as a student, I was fascinated by the\u00a0detailed\u00a0illustrations of\u00a0radiolarians\u00a0(microscopic single-celled marine\u00a0organisms) and\u00a0the intricate complexity\u00a0of their skeletal forms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arman\u2019s earrings, named Infinity Spirit, Star Flare and Eternal Drop, are transformable. \u201cThe drop-shaped earring can be worn either as simple stud earring, or thanks to a small hook at the back of the earring, the wearer can add a three-dimensional pendant drop at the bottom. The lower piece can also be reversed to reveal the plain gold side.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arman, who always strives to create three-dimensional, sculptural forms explored a design that allows the pieces to be appreciated from multiple angles. This also lends the jewels a unique versatility. \u201cI have adapted the design to suit the occasion or how the piece may be worn. I believe this flexibility enhances the personal connection between the wearer and the piece, making it both functional and artistic,\u201d adds Arman. The Hyper Baroque earrings, set with pink sapphires, are made in 925 sterling silver and plated with either rose gold or black rhodium.<\/p>\n
