Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC, delivered a presentation on \u2018Enhancing Retail Exports through E-commerce\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In his opening remarks, Mr. Ray underscored the pivotal role of e-commerce platforms in driving business growth, particularly for the gem and jewellery sector. He described e-commerce as an ideal platform for the industry, citing the low volume and high value of its products as key advantages for cross-border trade. Businesses are bound to grow in the foreseeable future through e-commerce, he stated, emphasising its accessibility and scalability.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ray provided an overview of recent foreign trade policy measures introduced by the Government of India. Over the past two years, these regulatory reforms have significantly facilitated e-commerce exports, enabling the sector to achieve remarkable growth. He noted that India\u2019s gem and jewellery exports currently stand at $38 billion, with projections to reach $100 billion by 2047, driven largely by the expanding scope of e-commerce.<\/p>\n<p>He advised exporters to identify key product markets and understand consumer preferences to secure repeat orders.
