The CIBJO has launched a second round of public consultation on its \u201cBlue List\u201d lexicon, seeking wider industry feedback on standardised terminology for responsible jewellery supply chains.<\/p>\n
The Blue List, formally titled The Responsible Jewellery Supply Chain Lexicon<\/em>, aims to establish a harmonised set of definitions for terms linked to sustainability and responsible sourcing, particularly in jewellery marketing. The initiative is designed to ensure such claims are clear, substantiated and consistently understood by both industry stakeholders and consumers.<\/p>\n The second consultation follows an initial review phase held between May and September 2025, which generated multiple recommendations and prompted targeted revisions to the draft. While most of the original terminology was broadly accepted, certain areas required refinement, leading to the updated version now under review.<\/p>\n The consultation will remain open until 12 June 2026. CIBJO is inviting contributions from a broad cross-section of industry participants as well as external experts, signalling an effort to build consensus before finalising the lexicon.<\/p>\n Gaetano Cavalieri, President, CIBJO, who co-chairs the committee with Feriel Zerouki, President, World Diamond Council, said, \u201cOur goal is to produce a lexicon of terms that can be practically applied and comprehended worldwide, and to do that in the most transparent and inclusive way possible.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had hoped that one round of public consultation would be sufficient, and, while almost all the terminology and definitions in the original draft were widely accepted, there were a number of points raised during the consultative process that we agreed should be addressed, leading to few amendments to the proposed text.
