French luxury group Kering has expanded its Kering Academy for Excellence by signing partnerships with eight Italian educational institutions, strengthening its commitment to developing the next generation of luxury craftsmanship. As part of the initiative, the company has also appointed a high-profile Think Tank that includes jewellery historian and academic Alba Cappellieri, underscoring its long-term investment in jewellery education and artisanal excellence.<\/p>\n
The new partnerships, formalised at the Campus Valore Italia in Milan’s MIND Innovation District, establish a nationwide educational network designed to preserve Italy’s artisanal heritage while preparing future talent for the luxury industry. The initiative builds on the Kering Academy for Excellence, launched earlier this year to develop skills across apparel, menswear, leather goods and jewellery.<\/p>\n
Alba Cappellieri, who is the Head of Jewellery & Accessory Design at the Politecnico di Milano, joins an elite Think Tank chaired by Sabina Belli, CEO of Pomellato. Other notable members include fashion strategist Andrea Batilla; Stefania Lazzaroni, head of Italy’s luxury industry association; Angelo Crespi; Tommaso Sacchi; Andrea Raselli; journalist Carlo Mazzoni; and academic Arduino Salatin. The advisory body will guide the Academy’s strategic direction, curriculum and industry engagement.<\/p>\n
The Academy integrates traditional craftsmanship with emerging disciplines such as artificial intelligence, technology and advanced materials, reflecting the changing skills required in luxury jewellery manufacturing. Training programmes will range from short courses to multi-year qualifications, with some leading to officially recognised diplomas under Italian law.<\/p>\n
Kering said the Academy is designed as a distributed learning ecosystem that brings together the training centres of its luxury houses, including Pomellato, alongside brands such as Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Brioni.
