British fine jewellery artist <\/em>Andrew Geoghegan<\/strong> circles back to silver after more than 20 years with Wunden, a personalised signet ring inspired by Anglo-Saxon gold.<\/em><\/p>\n

Serendipitous discoveries sometimes become a source of inspiration for jewellery artists. British jeweller Andrew Geoghegan recently found inspiration in a real Anglo-Saxon gold artefact discovered during a metal-detecting trip with his son, Arthur, which led to the creation of Wunden, a personalised silver signet ring.<\/p>\n

The idea to build a collection was born after Geoghegan and Arthur uncovered a piece of Anglo-Saxon gold in a Lincolnshire field in February 2025. The find, made up of twisted fine wire and granulation, prompted Geoghegan to delve deeper into studying the Anglo-Saxon craft, symbolism, manuscripts, and metalwork.<\/p>\n

The name Wunden comes from Old English, meaning twisted or interwoven. It refers both to the ring’s sculptural, twisted shank and to the ancient metalwork that inspired it.<\/p>\n

“I have worked with precious metal for most of my career, but holding something made more than a thousand years ago changed how I saw it,” says Andrew Geoghegan. \u201cWunden is not a reproduction of Anglo-Saxon jewellery. It is my response to that encounter. It takes the feeling of twisted ancient gold and turns it into a modern signet ring that can carry someone’s own story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wunden is the second piece in Geoghegan’s Treowth collection and marks a new direction for the designer. Renowned for his fine jewellery and engagement rings, Geoghegan circled back to silver after more than 20 years to design a unisex signet ring.<\/p>\n

The ring is available in two proportions. Wunden I is lighter and quieter on the hand, while Wunden II is deeper, broader and more substantial. Both are made to order in silver, then hand-finished, hand-engraved and rhodium plated.<\/p>\n

The made-to-order Wunden ring is priced from \u00a3989, with a typical lead time of 4 to 6 weeks. Personalisation, however, is central to the design. Customers can choose from a series of hand-engraved runes, each carrying a different meaning, including Legacy, Courage, Journey, Endurance, Protection and Joy. Bespoke symbols, initials, dates and custom engraving can also be commissioned.<\/p>\n
