Celebrating India\u2019s rich musical legacy through the language of jewellery, the Brilliant Bharat \u2013 Music of India Jewellery Crafts Design Competition<\/em> emerged as one of the creative highlights of IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026. Exhibitors were challenged to translate India’s rich musical heritage into jewellery creations. Drawing inspiration from classical ragas, folk traditions, devotional music, regional instruments and contemporary musical expressions, the competition celebrated the harmony between artistry and craftsmanship. Every piece offered a unique interpretation of the theme, transforming India’s rich musical heritage into delightful jewellery. The remarkable diversity and originality of the entries underscored the immense creative talent flourishing across the country.<\/p>\n

Mona Shah, Founder and Managing Director of Gewels by Mona, evaluated nearly 40 entries, assessing each design for its thematic relevance, originality, wearability and craftsmanship. With over two decades of experience in the jewellery industry, she brought a deep design expertise to the judging process.<\/p>\n

The winning and shortlisted pieces were showcased at the Brilliant Bharat Gallery across the two venues \u2013 JWCC and BEC.<\/p>\n

The coat buttons handcrafted in 18-karat antique finish gold, inspired by India’s rich musical heritage, bear symbols of the veena, violin, tabla, sitar, mridangam and harmonium, and shehnai. Highlighting sculptural artistry, these buttons that can be worn also as brooches, are embellished with diamonds, rubies, pearls and fine filigreed goldwork.\\<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The design is centred on carved tanzanites that form the resonant bodies, beautifully illuminated by a delicate halo of\u00a0 diamonds. The graceful necks rise into a striking geometric fretboard woven with lush emeralds and tapered diamonds. Finished with elegant gold scrollwork, luminous pearl accents, and a crowning flourish of vibrant rubies, this pair is a breathtaking orchestration of musical artistry and fine craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

The grand necklace, Melodious Swing of Devotion, is an immersive sensory experience. Composed of multiple rows of emeralds, the pendant features Bal Gopal seated on a handcrafted golden swing, sheltered beneath a temple-inspired dome and framed by intricately carved peacocks.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The necklace is punctuated by miniature musical instruments \u2013 including the dhol, manjira, kartal, and temple bells \u2013 adorned with polkis and coral, celebrating the joyous spirit of Krishna bhajans.<\/p>\n

What steals the show is an interactive feature. A finely crafted diya suspended at the base acts as the trigger. With a gentle push, a devotional bhajan begins to play to a rhythmic beat, recreating the experience of gently swinging Bal Gopal during worship.<\/p>\n
