The event was Powered by GIA, with the World Gold Council as Gold Partner.\u00a0It was Co-partnered by Vaibhav Global Limited, Kiran Gems, Ferrari Logistics,\u00a0Dhanera\u00a0Diamonds and\u00a0Aigiri\u00a0Jewels. The prestigious\u00a0ceremony\u00a0witnessed\u00a0a grand turnout on the afternoon of\u00a013 September\u00a02026\u00a0at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB),\u00a0Mumbai, as the industry came together to celebrate and honour its leading export performers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shri Amit Shah, Hon\u2019ble Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation,\u00a0said, \u201cIndia has the infrastructure, capital,\u00a0capability\u00a0and entrepreneurs to\u00a0become the world\u2019s gems and jewellery hub. As the diamond trade evolves, the time has come to think beyond speed and focus on scale. Lab-grown diamonds present a major opportunity. India must build the entire value chain, from manufacturing and technology to jewellery,\u00a0branding\u00a0and retail, and develop Indian brands with a global presence. The Government of India, along with the governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat, is ready to provide the support\u00a0required. I see a very bright future for this industry, and the time has come for India to\u00a0emerge\u00a0as a global leader in diamonds and jewellery.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>stated<\/span>, \u201cIndia\u2019s gems and jewellery industry makes a significant contribution to the country\u2019s exports and economic growth, with Maharashtra and Mumbai playing a leading role. The ecosystem created here, particularly at Bharat Diamond Bourse, has brought together traders,\u00a0<\/span>artisans<\/span>\u00a0and employees as one large industry family. Our aim is to support this industry through the state\u2019s policies and infrastructure. The new jewellery policy introduced in 2025 includes provisions to strengthen the sector, recognising its contribution to both the economy and employment. We are also developing a modern jewellery ecosystem in Navi Mumbai, with the potential to attract \u20b91 lakh crore in investment and generate 50,000 jobs.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion Shri Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra<\/span>, noted,<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>More than 50 lakh people are engaged in the sector across the country, and the industry has established India as a strong player in global trade, with Maharashtra and Mumbai accounting for more than 50% of the country\u2019s total gem and jewellery exports. The Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai is a major global centre for diamond trade. As India moves towards the vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the gem and jewellery industry has\u00a0<\/span>a very important<\/span>\u00a0role to play. I\u00a0<\/span>am confident that our industry members will continue to work hard, take the sector to greater heights and contribute even more to India\u2019s growth story.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In his address,\u00a0Shri Kirit Bhansali,\u00a0Chairman, GJEPC said, \u201cOver the past four to five years, the gems and jewellery industry\u00a0has\u00a0faced significant challenges, from geopolitical tensions and tariff pressures to softer demand\u00a0in key markets. Yet the industry has responded by exploring new markets, adopting\u00a0technology\u00a0and increasing value addition. The resilience of India\u2019s gems and jewellery exports is a testament to that commitment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe partnership between the Government and industry has been critical. Policy measures, new trade\u00a0agreements\u00a0and support for emerging sectors such as lab-grown diamonds are creating new opportunities and strengthening India\u2019s position in global markets.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur next chapter must focus on design,\u00a0innovation\u00a0and value addition, using India\u2019s strengths in traditional\u00a0craftsmanship\u00a0and technology to build globally recognised brands. The upcoming India Jewellery Park in Navi Mumbai and other industry initiatives will further strengthen this ecosystem.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The awards come at an important juncture for the industry. Despite continued global macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical turbulence, India\u2019s gem and jewellery exports\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0resilience, recording US$27.72 billion in FY 2025\u201326, broadly\u00a0maintaining\u00a0the previous year\u2019s levels through agile utilisation of FTAs, market\u00a0diversification\u00a0and increased value addition.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Building on this resilience, GJEPC has set an ambitious vision of taking India\u2019s gem and jewellery exports to US$100 billion by 2040, aligned with the Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The ambition reflects a broader transformation underway in the sector\u2014from India\u2019s traditional strength as a global manufacturing base towards becoming a comprehensive global hub for design, innovation, technology, luxury, value\u00a0addition\u00a0and international trade.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrating Excellence Across the Industry<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Established in\u00a01974,\u00a0the IGJA has, for more than five decades,\u00a0has\u00a0recognised the entrepreneurial spirit, resilience and excellence of India\u2019s gem and jewellery exporters and their contribution to the sector\u2019s remarkable growth. Over the years, the awards have evolved to reflect the changing priorities and achievements of the industry, expanding beyond export performance to recognise\u00a0social responsibility,\u00a0employment, silver jewellery, coloured gemstones, costume and fashion jewellery,\u00a0innovation,\u00a0woman\u00a0entrepreneurship, best bank supporting the industry,\u00a0and other areas of excellence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The awards also recognised individual contribution, entrepreneurial\u00a0excellence\u00a0and industry leadership, celebrating those whose achievements have helped strengthen India\u2019s position in the global gem and jewellery ecosystem.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Special Recognition Award was presented to Shri Arvind Chhotalal Parikh, Partner, Crystal Diamonds, in recognition of his more than seven decades of contribution and service to the diamond industry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lifetime Achievement Award<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Shri Vallabhbhai Patel, Founder, Kiran Gems, recognising his remarkable entrepreneurial journey, business\u00a0achievements, resilience and contribution to society and the gem and jewellery industry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 52nd IGJA was more than an awards evening\u2014it was a powerful reflection of an industry that is resilient in the face of global uncertainty, ambitious in its growth aspirations and increasingly central to India\u2019s global economic story.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
