The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) held its 60th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 23rd<\/sup> September, 2026, at the Bharat Diamond Bourse, Mumbai, in hybrid mode. The meeting was presided over by Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, in the presence of Shaunak Parikh, Vice Chairman; Anil Virani, Convener, Audit & Finance; Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director; and Sandeep Sharma, Chief Financial Officer.<\/p>\n

In his address, Bhansali reviewed the performance of the Indian gem and jewellery industry during FY2025-26, noting that total exports stood at US$27.72 billion amid geopolitical uncertainty, changing US tariff policies and weak global demand. He highlighted stronger performance in markets including the UAE, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada and France, alongside growth in value-added categories such as studded gold, silver and platinum jewellery.<\/p>\n

Bhansali also highlighted the signing of four FTAs with the UK, EU, Oman and New Zealand during FY2025-26, alongside the existing UAE CEPA and Australia ECTA. He said the agreements provide zero or near-zero duty access for Indian gems and jewellery in several major markets.<\/p>\n

On market development, the Chairman cited SAJEX 2025, the India-UK Buyer-Seller Meet in London and the India-Riyadh Studded Jewellery BSM, while pointing to IIJS Bharat as GJEPC\u2019s flagship trade platform.<\/p>\n

The chairman\u2019s address also covered institutional initiatives including JewelStart, Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC and the India Jewellery Park Mumbai, as well as new e-commerce and hand-carry frameworks aimed at supporting MSMEs, first-time exporters and artisans. GJEPC\u2019s membership increased to 10,910 during the year.<\/p>\n

The AGM agenda included adoption of the Council\u2019s audited standalone and consolidated financial statements for FY2025-26, appointment of branch auditors and the proposed reappointment of CNK & Associates LLP as statutory auditors for five years. Members also considered resolutions to regularise the appointments of 10 Directors who had earlier been appointed as Additional Directors.<\/p>\n

The meeting was conducted through physical and virtual participation, with voting facilitated through e-voting. Pramod Shah & Associates was appointed as scrutiniser, with the scrutiniser\u2019s report to be submitted within three days of the AGM.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on GJEPC\u2019s 60th anniversary year, Bhansali said the industry\u2019s investments in policy, infrastructure, talent and global relationships had created a foundation for expanding India\u2019s export potential.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
