The India Pavilion organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) at the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gems Fair 2018 included 42 leading gem and jewellery exhibitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was held from June 21st24th 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) with an exciting line-up of exhibitors and special events. The India Pavilion had diamond, jewellery and coloured gemstone exhibitors located at Hall 3B-E (35 diamond exhibitors), at Hall 5B-E (five gemstone exhibitors), and at Hall 1C (two jewellery exhibitors). The fair maintained its top spot as the most important mid-year jewellery sourcing event in Asia. Occupying 70,000 sq m of exhibition space, the fair was strategically divided into speciality pavilions, making sourcing easier for buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
GJEPC chairman Pramod Agrawal said, \u201cLast year, Hong Kong was the largest export market for the Indian gem and jewellery industry. It has always been our endeavour to give our manufacturers the maximum opportunity to showcase their exquisite jewellery collections to markets in and around Hong Kong through this show. The June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gems Fair was rightly placed for mid-year jewellery sourcing in Asia and this time we had 42 gem and jewellery manufacturers participating from India under the India Pavilion. The platform was an opportunity for exhibitors to enhance their existing relationships with buyers and create new ones.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, India is renowned across the world as the destination for sourcing quality gems and jewellery. The export of gems and jewellery accounted for $42 billion in 2017. Hong Kong was the leading export destination in 2017 with total exports pegged at $14 billion or 33%. Exports of cut and polished diamonds to Hong Kong accounted for $10 billion; gold jewellery accounted for $973.40 million, and coloured gemstones accounted for $205.70 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
