Photo courtesy Christie\u2019s<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christie\u2019s Paris Joaillerie auction, which took place online from 21st June to 7th July, achieved a total of $8,233,463, selling 89% by lot and 140.2% by value, exceeding its presale estimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highlight of the auction was an Art Deco aquamarine, lacquer, gold and platinum necklace by Jean Fouquet, circa 1925, that sold for $1,164,858, establishing a world auction record for the French jewellery artist (1899-1984).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further highlights included a wide selection of diamonds achieving strong results. A magnificent cushion-cut diamond of 17.47 carats, F colour and clarity VS1 was sold for $809,468, ($46,335 per carat). A stunning circular-cut diamond of 7.38 carats, G colour and clarity IF, achieved $238,079 ($32,260 per carat). Further highlights included an Art D\u00e9co section which offered delicate pieces such as a dragonfly brooch by Ren\u00e9 Lalique which fetched $208,010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colored stones set by famous Place Vendome jewellers&nbsp; also attracted international collectors. A sapphire and diamond ring by Van Cleef &amp; Arpels achieved $141,150 and a sapphire and diamond \u201cCouronette\u201d bracelet from the 19th century estimated at \u20ac40,000-60,000 was sold for $89,147.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Violaine d\u2019Astorg, Christie\u2019s Jewels Department Head in France, said: \u201cStrong results were achieved for our Spring online sale held in Paris.
