6,000 Couples Participate in Road Safety Rally Organised by Hari Krishna Exports

Hari Krishna Exports, one of India’s leading diamond and jewellery manufacturers, organised a massive rally to spread awareness about Road Safety, which saw the participation of about 6,000 couples on two-wheelers. The rally particularly drew attention to the issue of the safety of pillion riders, who are usually women, and the need for them to also wear safety helmets.

The rally was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Surat’s new Police Commissioner, Shri Satishkumar Sharma, IPS. Participants covered a distance of 18 km from the Company’s diamond factory HK HUB, Ichchhapore to the HK CAMPUS, Simada. It was organised soon after a company employee lost his wife during a road accident, leaving behind a four year old son and a two month old baby.

All 6,000 HK employees took part in the two-wheeler rally, accompanied by their spouses, or other female relatives – mother, daughter, sister – as pillion rider. Each couple wore helmets donated by HK Chairman Savjibhai Dholakia. At the start of the rally all the participants pledged to henceforth follow the #HelmetRule, for both riders of a two wheeler.
