ALROSA: Market Sentiment Positive as April Rough Sales Touch US$ 396 Mn

ALROSA Group reported that its total diamond sales during the month of April touched US$ 405.3 million as retailers remained positive and the overall market mood was optimistic.

The miner said that the total value of rough diamond sales during the month stood at US$ 396.2 million, while polished diamond sales amounted to US$ 9.1 million.

Cumulative sales for the year (Jan-Apr) 2018 amounted to US$ 2.011 billion, of which rough diamond sales contributed US$ 1.978 billion and sales of polished diamonds for US$ 32.9 million.

Commenting on the sales results, ALROSA Deputy CEO Yury Okoemov said, “In January-April, world markets saw consistent high demand for rough diamonds. In April, diamond trade traditionally slowed down due to seasonality. Nevertheless, demand and sales results were good enough for this month, supported by optimistic market trend and positive reports from retailers.”
