ALROSA President Holds Discussion With Israel’s Diamond Industry Leaders

President of ALROSA Sergey Ivanov recently met with President of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) Yoram Dvash; and the Chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) Shmuel Schnitzer. They discussed matters of current interest for the diamond market; as well as dwelt upon the present situation in the Israeli diamond industry.

The IDE President, presenting an update on the developments in the Israeli diamond industry, described his organisation’s initiatives for the development of the diamond manufacturing industry within Israel. In a press release ALROSA said that Dvash spoke about the new diamond manufacturing factories established within the Diamond Exchange; projects for the development of Internet-trade in polished diamonds; and about the International Tender Center – a trading platform for diamond producers – launched earlier this year.

The two Israeli industry leaders, Dvash and Schnitzer, speaking on behalf of the Israeli diamond sector, welcomed the efforts of ALROSA and other members of the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) on its generic diamond marketing programme.

Sergey Ivanov lauding the achievements of the Israeli industry in keeping the trade in natural and syntheticrough diamonds separate, said: “Due to a ban on the trade in synthetic rough diamonds on the platform of the Exchange, tax and other measures, including the use of state-of-the-art detection devices, there is no issue of ‘undeclared synthetic diamonds’ in Israel. There is no doubt that leading natural diamond producers must be confident in such an approach.”

Dvash and Schnitzer also invited ALROSA to participate in the celebrations to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Israel Diamond Exchange.
