ALROSA’s Total Sales of Diamonds in February 2020 Touches US $346 Mn

ALROSA’s total diamond sales (including integration of Kristall Production Corporation figures) for February 2020 worth US$346.4 million, were almost flat on a year-on-year basis, compared to sales worth US$345.6 million recorded for February 2019.

This, after January 2020 sales had shown a positive trend – ALROSA had sold US$ 405 million worth of diamonds in that month as compared to US$281.6 million worth of diamonds in the same period of the previous year.

Of the total, sales of rough diamonds amounted to US$342.3 million; while polished diamond sales touched US$4.1 million.

“Our February sales were 14% down compared to January,” commented Evgeny Agureev, Deputy CEO of ALROSA. “In February, the uncertainty with the spread of COVID19 virus started to weigh negatively on the demand and customers activity, the factor that will be impacting demand in the coming months. However, we continue to pursue “price-over-volume” strategy to keep prices stable rather than increasing sales volumes."
