ALROSA’s Auction of Large Rough Diamonds in Hong Kong Raises US$ 10.7 Mn

At its auction of special size rough diamonds (over 10.8 carats) held in Hong Kong, ALROSA sold 136 gem-quality diamonds with a total weight of 2,234 carats, for US$ 10.7 million. The diamonds on offer at the sale included 25 fancy yellow stones, totally weighing 440 carats.

There were 54 companies which participated in the auction and these were from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Belgium, Israel and India.  

“This year’s last diamond auction in Hong Kong was held simultaneously with the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair,” said Evgeny Agureev, Member of the Executive Committee, and Director of USO ALROSA. “During the last auction, we sold not only rough diamonds of standard colour, but also rare fancy yellow stones, which are particularly popular in the market.” 

ALROSA has held three auctions in 2018, including  the latest reported above, in September. “Since the beginning of the year, the Company has sold over 5,500 carats of diamonds for a total amount of about US$ 35 million,” ALROSA declared.
