ALROSA’s Diamond Sales for June 2017 of US$ 365 Mn Lower by Over 22% than May Sales

The ALROSA Group reported total diamond sales of US$ 365 million for June 2017; lower by 22.68% than total sales in May 2017 which had amounted to US$ 472.1 million.

Rough diamond sales in June 2017 amounted to US$ 354.4 million; while polished diamond sales stood at US$ 10.6 million.

For the first half of the year -- January to June 2017 -- ALROSA’s total rough and polished diamond sales amounted to US$ 2.497 billion. Of this, rough diamonds sales accounted for US$ 2.442 billion; and polished diamond sales amounted to US$ 54.9 million.

ALROSA Vice President Yury Okoemov commented: “In the first half of 2017, the Company cut down finished stock due to positive rough diamond market trends. The stock structure as at the start of the year, predominantly small-size, rather inexpensive goods, had a significant impact on the sales structure. We consider the existing rough diamond market environment to be stable, though we saw a seasonal slowdown by the end of June.”
