ALROSA’s Latest Polished Diamond Sale in New York Raises US$3 Mn

At ALROSA’s tender for polished diamonds in New York this June, organised by its cutting division Diamonds of ALROSA, 20 polished diamonds with a total weight of 140.4 carats were sold for a total revenue of US$ 3 million.

The lots included eight gemstones of standard colour; and 12 fancy coloured polished diamonds, with most of them having Fancy Yellow and Fancy Intense Yellow colour.

Of the 29 entities from different countries participating in the tender, 11 firms were successful in their bids.

"The polished diamond tender in New York was very successful, despite the traditionally quiet summer season and the falling market as a whole,” said Pavel Vinikhin, Director of the Diamonds of ALROSA cutting division. “White and fancy polished diamonds were equally in good demand. In addition to retailers from the US, the world's largest market for diamond jewellery consumption, firms from Israel, Taiwan, India and the United Arab Emirates participated in the tender."

ALROSA has announced the next tender in the United States for November 2019. The Company also said there will be another one held in Israel this fall. In September, the company will hold its traditional diamond tender in Hong Kong.
