ALROSA’s Subsidiary Almazy Anabara Declares Record Volume Production of Rough

ALROSA’s subsidiary company Almazy Anabara, has declared a record volume production of diamonds during the “washing season” which covered the – roughly – four-month period from May 20 to September 24, 2018.

“According to the Company’s data, over 5.4 million carats of rough diamonds were mined, which is a record mining level throughout the Company’s operation,” ALROSA announced. “The production target was exceeded by 9%. Indicators of mining operations, carried out mostly in winter, were fully achieved as well — the Company mined and processed about 14 million cubic meters of rock mass.”

Pavel Marinychev, CEO of Almazy Anabara commented: “Such results were achieved due to, without limitation, the advanced diamond-bearing sand processing technology. In particular, we have upgraded the X-ray luminescent separation line to decrease workload of dense-media separation units at the Bolshaya Kuonamka deposit and to increase capacity of grading units.”

Favorable weather conditions also greatly helped in the achievement of these results as the production time at placer mines was extended. “But, most importantly, concerted efforts of all services involved are the main factor of success,” ALROSA stressed.

Marinychev added: “We opened the new Khara-Mas site in tundra zone this year. In accordance with the results of the completed washing season, we can confirm that the site turned out to be promising, and all of its planned indicators were confirmed by the final results.”

The Company also reported that the mineral resource base of Almazy Anabara is constantly developing — and thus Almazy Anabara got six new fields for disposal in 2017. Moreover, production will be expanded at the existing sites as well, ALROSA said.

The Company which plans to increase production at the deposits of Ebelyakh group by 1 million carats next year, has already commenced with   preliminary work has towards this.

Almazy Anabara, which started ancillary mining of gold in 2017, mined over 80 kg of gold   last year; and 113 kg of gold in 2018.
