ALROSA’s Total Diamond Sales for August Rise 14% Y-o-Y; Touch US$ 294.9 Mn

ALROSA Group’s  total  diamond sales – including of  rough and polished – for August 2018 stood at US$ 294.9 million, the miner announced today. This marked an increase of  14% y-o-y.

Of this, rough diamond sales amounted to US$ 283.2 million; while polished diamond sales stood at  US$ 11.7 million.

For the eight-month period from January-August 2018,  ALROSA’s total diamond sales  grew by 9% y-o-y to reach  US$ 3.323 billion; with rough diamond sales of US$ 3.256 billion and polished diamond sales of US$ 67 million.

“Despite traditional August market slowdown, sales of both rough and polished diamonds were much higher than a year before,” remarked ALROSA Deputy CEO for Sales Yury Okoemov. “Positive trends in diamond jewellery sales observed since the beginning of the year contribute to stable demand for almost the entire range of our products, especially for high-price rough diamonds.  Basically, we maintain moderately positive outlook for the rough and polished diamond market growth in 2018. In the medium term, rough diamond sales will be supported by the growing demand for diamond jewellery in the main jewellery consuming countries – the US, China and India.”
