Brisk Business at Shenzhen Jewellery Fair 2019; Visitor Traffic Up 15%

Business was brisk at the 2019 edition of the China International Gold, Jewellery & Gem Fair – Shenzhen (Shenzhen Jewellery Fair), the organisers, Informa Markets said in a statement released earlier this week, with visitor traffic up 15% to 14,123, including buyers from across 30 provinces of China and international visitors from India, Malaysia, USA, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

The fair, which was held end April, sent clear signals that “the jewellery industry is cautiously optimistic, but largely poised for steady growth”, the statement added, reporting that exhibitors and visitors were “largely engaged and made robust transactions”.

Teddy Tan, Event Director of Shenzhen Jewellery Fair, said, "Chinese consumers are the driver of the world's luxury market and will remain so over the next several years."

The fair, held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center, had 251 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions.

Tan added, "We are happy that the Shenzhen Jewellery Fair delivered yet again maximum benefit to both our exhibitors and visitors at this edition."

One of the popular new concepts introduced at the show was the Licensing Area, for those interested in franchising opportunities, where exhibitors were showcasing possible merchandising tie-ins for popular characters in video games, movies or literary work.

Other sections that attracted attention were the Brand Village, which showcased breakthroughs in jewellery materials, manufacturing, technologies and retailing; the GZDN Pavilion, which included exhibitors who specialise in lab-grown diamonds; The Designer Pavilion, a platform for new local talents to highlight their expertise; the New Media Resources Pavilion, where some popular live streaming and ecommerce platforms in China showcased how jewellery sales could be enhanced through these emerging platforms and generate a huge amount of traffic; and the Bridal Jewellery Pavilion.

The show also hosted the China Jewellery Market Summit, a series of forums and panel discussions featuring experts and professionals from leading jewellery companies and fashion partners offering the latest industry intelligence.

The next edition of the Shenzhen Jewellery Fair is scheduled from 14-17 March 2020 at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center.
