Customs Department Makes Presentation on Post-GST Changes to G&J Industry in Jaipur

Senior Customs official, Dr B.K. Meena, DC conducted a GST awareness seminar for members of the gem and jewellery industry at the GJEPC’s office in Jaipur today where he briefed those present on the changes which are going to occur in export & import documentation post the implementation of GST.

The seminar was hosted by the GJEPC as part of its overall efforts to inform the industry and ensure that all its members are prepared for the new tax regime that comes into force on July 1.

Dr Meena gave a detailed and highly informative presentation with a focus on some key areas such as:

  • Unique number for each Bill of Entry / Shipping Bill has to filed in every return
  • Export invoice to be prepared as per GST invoice rules
  • Taxable value and IGST payable – declaration to be made item wise

Nearly 150 importers and exporters were present. Dr Meena also briefed the Custom Handling Agents on the changes.

GJEPC had also conducted similar seminars for its members in Jaipur last week, and welcomed the initiative of the Customs department.

To facilitate the transition to the new system, GJEPC has also set up a GST Point – Help desk at its office in Jaipur. Qualified and experienced CAs will be present every Wednesday and Friday from 4-6 pm to answer queries from the members and offer practical tips and guidance.
