De Beers Not to Hold 3rd Sight of 2020; Permits Deferment of 100% of Allocations to Later in Year

De Beers today announced that it would not be holding the third sight of 2020 which was scheduled to begin in Botswana today on account of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The company said it had taken this decision “due to public health restrictions on the movement of people and product in Botswana, South Africa and India, which prohibit customers from traveling and prevent the shipment of goods to customers’ international operations”.

The announcement also stated that De Beers Group “is enabling Sightholders to defer 100% of their Sight 3 allocations to later in the year, and will continue to seek innovative ways to meet Sightholders’ rough diamond supply needs in the coming weeks”.
