De Beers’ Second Sales Cycle of 2019 Sees Increased Demand from India

De Beers Group’s  sales of  rough diamond sales (Global Sightholder Sales and Auction Sales) for the second cycle of 2019 amounted to US$490 million (provisional),  below the Cycle 2 2018 sales (actual) valued at US$ 563 million.  The Group’s (actual) sales for Cycle 1 2019 had amounted to US$500 million.

Bruce Cleaver, CEO, De Beers Group, said: “Demand for rough diamonds remained consistent during the second sales cycle of 2019. While overall demand for lower value rough diamonds remains subdued, we did see an increase in demand from India as factories begin to restock.”
