Diamonds of Anabar to Allocate 108 Mn Rubles for Development of the Arctic Uluses of Yakutia

ALROSA announced recently that its subsidiary, Diamonds of Anabar, entered into a cooperation agreement for 2020 with the Arctic uluses of Yakutia; under which the former will allocate 108 million rubles for the social and economic development of Bulunsky, Anabarsky, Oleneksky, Zhigansky and Eveno-Bytantaysky uluses. 

The document was signed by the general director of Almazy Anabara JSC Pavel Marinichev and the heads of the uluses.

“Similar documents were signed earlier, and will remain valid throughout the term of the subsoil use license,” ALROSA clarified, while also elaborating on what the agreement means for the uluses. “The priority areas of cooperation between the parties remain the development of the economy of the Arctic uluses, the creation of favourable conditions for solving basic social problems, compliance with environmental requirements, retraining and employment of the local population.”

Anabar Diamonds has been participating in the “Arctic Cleansing” programme for the export of ferrous metal scrap, which is transported from this region through Yakutsk to specialised reception centers, since 2011.

Almazy Anabara owns licences for the development and production of diamonds at six deposits located on the territory of Bulunsky and Anabar uluses.
