DPA Teams Up With Lakme Fashion Week to Present a Unique Opportunity to Jewellery Designers

Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 and the  Diamond Producers Association have come together to present a special initiative – The Real Cut –  “to provide a unique platform for young and emerging Diamond Jewellery designers from across India to reach the fashion industry globally”, Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) says on its website.

The organisers of the fashion fest have invited jewellery designers (spelling out specific eligibility criteria) to submit photographs of their jewellery which would be selected to be worn by models at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 shows.

“The Diamond Jewellery designer must demonstrate innovation with Diamond and techniques as well as their creative process and methodology towards conceptualising the range,” the organisation states.

Some of the rules set out are:  the jewellery should use diamonds of 20 cents or below, and the total weight of diamonds in a piece should not exceed five carats.  Jewellery should only be set in gold (yellow, white or rose) and platinum. It should not contain any synthetics or stimulants or coloured gemstones.

Further, LFW says: “The Diamond jewellery designer must create pieces which work with pret wear clothing and not bridal wear and should be on the lines of ‘everyday jewellery’.”

The last date for receiving entries for consideration is Jaunuary 19, 2019.
