Gem Diamonds Finds a 134 Ct Type I Yellow Diamond at its Letšeng Mine

Hot on the heels of the news that Gem Diamonds had sold the 13.33-carat pink diamond – recovered at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho in February 2019 – to Graff for US$ 8,750,360 million, the Company has reported the recovery of another coloured diamond from Letšeng.

The Company said that it recovered the yellow 134-carat high quality Type I stone on March 31, 2019.   

“Since Gem Diamonds acquired the Letšeng mine in 2006, it has produced over 60 +100 carat, large, top colour, exceptional white diamonds, making it the highest average dollar per carat kimberlite diamond mine in the world,” the Company stresses.

The Company goes on to say: “In addition, Letšeng has produced high quality pink and blue diamonds, with a rare blue diamond achieving a sales price of US$ 603,047 per carat in 2013 and an exceptional pink diamond achieving US$ 187,700 per carat in 2016.”
