Gem Diamonds Recovers a 135 Carat Yellow Diamond at Letšeng Mine

Gem Diamonds Ltd announced yesterday that it had recovered a 135 carat Type I yellow diamond at its Letšeng Mine in Lesotho on June 21, 2019. This is the third large coloured diamond recovered from the mine, which is recognised for its large, and exceptional quality diamonds, this year.

Last year, Letšeng yielded a record fifteen diamonds larger than 100 carats each, up from seven in 2017. A 138.28 carat white diamond achieved US$ 60,428 per carat, the highest dollar per carat achieved for a white rough diamond during 2018.

This year, the Company sold a 13.33 carat pink diamond for a massive sum of US$ 8,750,360. This represents a record dollar per carat price of US$ 656,933 for a Letšeng diamond.
