Gemfields Group recently reported that it had been cleared of any charges of wrongdoing by the Zambian Revenue Authority (ZRA) following investigations that began in August this year.

It may be recalled that the ZRA had served two search warrants when it visited the Kagem site and had seized documents and files related to alleged attempts by Kagem Mining Ltd/ Limpopo Polygraphs CC to “evade the payment of value added tax, income tax, withholding tax and other taxes”.

The ZRA recently informed Kagem that the matters it was looking into had been suitably addressed and there were no findings of wrongdoing or later payment by either Kagem or Limpopo. The revenue body has confirmed that investigations into the matter have now been closed.
