GIA Supports Empowerment of Women, Conducts Skill-Enhancement Training for Students of MKSSS, Pune

GIA India, in collaboration with the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS), Pune, a 123-year old institution committed to the “Empowerment of Women through Education”, trained a batch of 19 students on SWIFT Jewellery Design at a 5-day skill-enhancement training programme from Aug 18 – 22, 2019.

The training programme was supported by the GIA Endowment Fund.

Participants learnt the basic principles of design and composition to help them gain an understanding of what goes into designing collections.

“GIA’s courses offer relevant hands-on education for those seeking to enter the global gem and jewellery industry. MKSSS is doing excellent work in educating girls and young women in India. Through GIA’s endowment fund, we were able to bring GIA’s world-class skill enhancement training programmes to women looking to make a mark in the industry,” said Nirupa Bhatt, MD, GIA India & Middle East. “We’re thankful for the support of MKSSS and work closely with them towards educating women and helping them become self-reliant.”
