GII’s Symposium on Advances in Gem & Diamond Detection Technology-2019 Inaugurated

The Gemmological Institute of India (GII) today inaugurated, what has become an annual event, its symposium “Advances in Gem & Diamond Detection Technology-2019”, organised by GII in collaboration with The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) and Diamond Exporter’s Association Limited (DEAL).

Dr. AVR Reddy, Executive Board Member and Head of the Institute, presented the context setting address after which a publication on the symposium was released.

Bakul Mehta, Chairman GII; Pramod Agrawal, Chairman GJEPC; and Anoop Mehta President BDB, all gave welcome addresses.

The keynote address was delivered by Tom Moses, Executive Vice President and Chief Research and Laboratory Officer of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

At the event, Richa Singh made a presentation on the “Outcome of Project Assure”, an initiative of the Diamond Producers Association.

The inaugural function came to an end with a Vote of thanks from Arvind Parikh, President, DEAL.

This was followed by technical sessions through the day;  which will be continued tomorrow, August 8 as well.
