Gitanjali’s Proposal For Gem & Jewellery Park in Odisha Receives Government Approval

The Odisha government has granted approval to a proposal from Gitanjali Infratech Ltd., a part of the Mumbai-based Gitanjali Group, to set up a a gems, jewellery, lifestyle and luxury goods park at Ramdaspur near Cuttack in Odisha. It will be the first of its kind in the eastern state.

The park will come up on a 100 acre plot in at Ramdaspur near Cuttack at an estimated investment of Rs 636 crore, the government said in a statement. It is expected to generate about 15,000 jobs in three phases spread over a seven-year period.

According to state government officials, the park will house facilities for cutting and polishing diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones, manufacturing of gold, silver, platinum and imitation jewellery. It will have two segments – a 60.03 acre which will have manufacturing units set up by Gitanjali and its brands, and a 29.23 acre which will be divided into 20 plots for other industry players, including players from the MSME sector.
