GJC Hosts 8th Networking Nite for Industry in Mumbai

All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) recently hosted the 8th edition of GJC Nite, an annual networking event that coincides with IIJS and is among the largest of its kind for the gem and jewellery industry in India.

This year, around 1,200 members of the domestic gem & jewellery trade attended along with other prominent personalities, members of the media as well as leading trade associations from across the country.

Addressing the gathering, GJC Chairman Anantha Padmanabhan urged the industry to remain calm despite the troubled times it was facing. “We are on the right path. Will urge the industry to stay calm and promise that we will see better days very soon and better future,” he said.

GJC Vice-Chairman, Shaankar Sen called for introspection and transformation. “The industry is going through a tough time and in a transformational phase. We all need to do self-introspection. It is important for us to keep abreast of latest technology and adapt newer ones to move ahead along with the time, taxation processes and promote Make in India,” he advised the audience.

The evening also featured a fashion extravaganza where companies unveiled their new designer collections. Actresses Zarine Khan, Shamita Shetty, Sophie Choudhry and Michelle Shetty, who sizzled on the ramp as showstoppers for Swarovski Gemstones, brought in a touch of glamour too.

Manoj Kumar Jha, Convener GJC Nite, said, “Every year, GJC Nite has scaled up the quality of designs and the experience. The latest collections launched at GJC Nite will be the trendsetters of the rest of the year. The industry is looking forward to attend this event with full excitement and we are proud to put our best efforts in bringing out the best to the industry.”
