GJEPC and BDB to Hold Concurrent Diamond Events in Mumbai Next Week

Two diamond business events taking place in Mumbai during the next week will create additional opportunities for diamond manufacturer-exporters, particularly those in the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment to interact with buyers.

While The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council will be hosting the 3rd India Diamond Week, a Buyer-Seller meet, from October 15-17, the Bharat Diamond Bourse is holding the Bharat Diamond Week from October 14-16. The former is open to invited buyers only, while the latter is open for to all members of the diamond trade who register as per the defined procedures.

Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) Vice-President Mehul Shah, who heads the Bharat Diamond Week, said: "This week of events will create more activity which will be to the benefit of the entire Indian diamond industry. They will create a great deal of excitement and many business opportunities.”

BDB President Anoop Mehta said, “I am very happy that these two events will be taking place during the same week.”

Diamond Producers Association CEO Jean-Marc Lieberherr has congratulated the BDB for organising the Bharat Diamond Week. “The Bharat Diamond Week is an important initiative in support of natural diamonds, which will help the whole business move forward.”

The BDB said that delegations of buyers from China, Australia, Nepal, South Korea, USA, Saudi Arabia and many other Asian countries will be attending the Diamond Week.

Each Indian company that wins the right to display at the Bharat Diamond Week is entitled to one booth only. Trading of synthetic or lab-grown diamonds is banned in the BDB, so there will not be any such diamonds traded at the BDW.
