GJEPC Chairman Part of a Delegation Led by Vice President of India H.E. Shri Venkaiah Naidu to Zimbabwe

The Chairman of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Pramod Kumar Agrawal   recently visited   Zimbabwe as part of a delegation led by the Vice President of India H.E. Shri Venkaiah Naidu.

During the visit, GJEPC Chairman addressed a gathering of Ministry officials and industry in Harare. He also held interactions with the Minister of Mines and Mining Development  Hon’ble Winston Chitando and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon’ble Raj Modi.

The visit to Zimbabwe is significant as it is an important diamond mining country and is in the process of reorganising and stabilising its diamond mining sector.  

During the visit, HE Vice President of India held delegation level talks with HE Vice President of Zimbabwe,  Mr. Kembo Mohadi. 

After a fruitful interaction, both Vice Presidents witnessed the signing of five MoUs for  cooperation between the two countries in the areas of Geology, Mining and Mineral Resources; Traditional Medicine and Homeopathy; Art, Culture and Heritate; Collaboration on Broadcasting; Visa Waiver Agreement for Diplomatic Passport holders; and one Action Plan on Information and Communication Technology.

“Later in the evening, the Vice President addressed the India Zimbabwe Business Forum meet and narrated the India's growth story and the reforms  taking place,” a press note from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said. “There are natural synergies between the two economies and we need to tap them for our mutual benefit, he said. Zimbabwean companies can take advantage of the high growth trajectory of the Indian economy, he further said. He urged the business community to consider investing in India.”
