The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organised a Workshop at its Head Office in Mumbai on March 14, 2020 on the use of Hindi in the day to day functioning of the organisation.

The workshop was conducted by Shri Vinod Sharma, Deputy Director, Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He explained the rules and bye-laws governing the use of the official language in work and elaborated on the responsibilities of the Head of the organisation as well as the Heads of individual departments in this regard.

Shri Sharma urged the employees of GJEPC not to hesitate in using the language in their daily communications, and also to use the Devanagari script even when writing common words from other languages. He also provided guidance on how to avoid usual mistakes that occur when writing in the language with appropriate examples of each.

The workshop concluded with a session covering practical training in use of the language for the type of official correspondence that the majority of the staff usually need to do.
