GJEPC Delegation Meets Consul-General of India and Trade Associations in Guangzhou, China

An eight-member delegation from The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) led by Chairman Pramod Kumar Agrawal is currently visiting China to meet various trade associations and strengthen ties with the industry there.

During their visit to Guangzhou, the delegation met with Shri Sujit Ghosh, Consul General of India, Guangzhou.

Earlier, they held a meeting with the Chief Secretary and Vice-president of the Guangdong Coloured Gemstone & Jewellery Chamber of Commerce to discuss further cooperation and trade ties.

Council Chairman made a brief presentation about GJEPC and also spoke about strengthening cooperation between the industries in India and China. He suggested that delegations representing the Chamber could visit the various events organised by GJEPC. He also talked about exploring opportunities for collaboration in jewellery manufacturing, pointing out that India has a strong presence in manufacturing of loose polished gemstones and diamonds. He also informed the Chinese representatives that India has recently rolled out a number of incentives for new units including lower corporate tax and many other benefits for those located in the Special Economic Zones (SEZ).

After the discussions, Chief Secretary of the Chamber accompanied the delegation on a visit to the wholesale market of Lowan Plaza.
