GJEPC-DGFT Host Export Awareness Workshop for Jewellery Cluster Membership in Cuttack, Odisha

The GJEPC and the office of the Jt. DGFT, Cuttack, jointly hosted a workshop on Export Awareness for Gem & Jewellery Cluster Membership on January 30, 2019 at Cuttack in Odisha.

The workshop was aimed at addressing the various issues being faced by the entrepreneurs in the area and highlighting the benefits of taking membership, as well as other schemes of DGFT.  The workshop was attended by more than 44 participants from various parts of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Officials from Jt. DGFT, MMTC, BIS, KPMG along with GJEPC spoke on the different topics and later participated in the discussion. Among the issues that were highlighted were:
1) Need for Bhubaneswar Airport to be notified for export & import of Precious items
2) Increased and easy availability of raw material for filligree products
3) Establishment of a Facility for Hallmarking of jewellery
4) Creation of a programme for Marketing & Promotion of filigree items, and
5) Provision of technical assistance to manufacturers on hazardous metals-free solder items.

Shri Sanjay Singh, Director, GJEPC gave a presentation in the workshop and answered to the queries of participants. Subsequently, Shri Singh held discussions on a few issues with the Chief Commissioner of Customs & GST, Shri Naresh Penumaka, IRS, the Additional Commissioner, Shri Santosh Kumar Mohanty and Shri L. N. Gupta, Addl. Chief Secretary, MSME, Govt. of Odisha, as well as with the Airport Director of Bhubaneswar Airport, Shri Suresh Chandra Hota.

The officials have assured that all the issues raised will be quickly looked into so that they can be resolved at the earliest.
