GJEPC, GJSCI Address MSME Seminar Organised by Bengali Swarnashilpi Kalyan Sangh in Zaveri Bazaar

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India participated in a Seminar organized by Bengali Swarnashilpi Kalyan Sangh on Friday 5th July 2019 at Zaveri Bazaar, Mumbai, where information on key schemes of the two organisations was shared with the jewellers and kaarigars.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Aakash Purohit, Corporator, Sanjay Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI and Mansukh Kothari, Convener, National Exhibitions, GJEPC. Additionally, the meet was also addressed by Rajiv Garg, ED, GJSCI; Mithilesh Pandey, Director Head: Parichay card, Health Insurance (Swasthya Kosh) and CFC, GJEPC and a representative of NSDC.

The presentation at the seminar was a part of the GJEPC’s campaign to promote the MSME sector of the Indian Gem & Jewellery Industry, for which it has been regularly organizing seminars, workshops and camps across the country.

A key focus of the seminar was to create awareness about the benefits of GJEPC’s Parichay Card, discuss the possibility of setting up a Common Facility Centre in Zaveri Bazaar and GJSCI’s RPL certificates.

Rajiv Garg outlined the process through which the jewellers could avail of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certificates for their units, and explained the benefits of doing so.

Mithilesh Pandey highlighted the various worker-welfare schemes that GJEPC has rolled out including the Parichay Card, the Swasthya Ratna and the Swasthya Kosh for health insurance and the benefits to the local industry if they became part of the government’s Common Facility Centre (CFC) scheme for the jewellery industry that the GJEPC was developing in collaboration with local trade associations.

He explained how the CFCs set up with government backing, including financial support, by a cluster of MSME’s, would give the manufacturers access to machines with the advanced technology that they cannot afford individually.

Mansukh Kothari urged the trade associations in Zaveri Bazaar to come together and plan what size of CFC would be required and to identify a few possible locations where it could be set up.

At the conclusion the dignitaries present distributed GJEPC’s Parichay cards and GJSCI’s RPL certificates to some of the attendees.

The seminar was concluded with vote of thanks by Kalidas Shinha Roy, Secretary, Bengali Swarnashilpi Kalyan Sangh.
