GJEPC Hosts Exporters’ Meet to Discuss Duty Drawback Issue With Ministry Officials

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council through its Regional Office in Delhirecently organised an Exporters’ Meet to discuss issues arising out of the Duty Drawback scheme with Shri D. K.Gupta, Director- Drawback, MoF as the Chief Guest.

Some of the points raised by the member-exporters related to the various difficulties being encountered by them in getting duty drawback refund on time, technical difficulty in uploading their documents, non-availability of duty drawback scheme on goods exported through exhibitions or consignment, etc.

GJEPC Regional Chairman Ashok Seth welcomed the guests, following which K. K. Duggal Director- National Policy gave a brief presentation on the Duty Drawback Scheme for gems and jewellery industry. Subsequently, Shri Gupta also made a presentation on the scheme.

Member exporters raised their specific cases wherein in spite of filing all the necessary documents, they haven't got the refunds and highlighted the system difficulties that are also being encountered. A large number requested the government to introduce the scheme for exhibition and consignment sale.

Director requested the Council to consolidate all the cases and submit the same to the Drawback Department for their needful action.

In continuation of this meeting, and earlier discussions with the CBIC chairman, Member Customs, DGEP, Delhi Customs Officials etc regarding IGST issue, Council organised another meet of member-exporters on the next day to discuss the show-cause notices being issued to around 60 exporters in this regard.
