GJEPC Organises Meeting With Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya on Diamond Parcel Seizures

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) today organised a meeting of concerned members – including exporters, traders and  angadias – with Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Chemical & Fertilizers, Shri Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya to discuss the ongoing issue of the seizure of diamond parcels from angadias by Central GST department, Mumbai. The meeting, which witnessed a large turnout, took place in the premises of the Bharat Diamond Bourse.

The GJEPC has been striving to have the issue addressed by making representations in different quarters, including concerned Government departments in both Delhi and Mumbai.

The representatives  of the GJEPC, including Chairman Pramod Agarwal; immmediate past Chairman Praveenshankar Pandya; and several members of the  GJEPC’s Committee of Adminstration (CoA) requested the Minister to help in getting the issue resolved. The GJEPC  has been asking for the release of the parcels, which have been in the custody of the GST department since January 4, 2018.

The Minister assured those present that he will get the matter resolved by the next week. And that a future policy, protecting the interests of all concerned, will be worked out at the earliest.
